I tried to leave it very much the same, with only minor tweaks to make it sound a bit nicer...it could probably use a major rewrite, but this will improve our starting point.
Welcome to The Five Pillars!
In this game, you play the role of a powerful mage with your own kingdom. Your objective is to develop and expand your land better than the other players. Beginning from a small patch of land and a small army, you will hopefully grow into a powerful kingdom.
First, choose a magical alignment for your character. This can be one of five magic types that exist in this mythical world, each with different strengths and weaknesses. Will you be a Nature mage, commanding the fearsome beasts of the forest, protecting it from encroaching deserts and swamps? Or will you become a Mountain mage, employing the most destructive creatures and spells to crush your enemies? Or you may choose the Plains, Swamp, or Elemental alignment. Whichever you choose should reflect your preferred style of play.
Turns: The Five Pillars is a turn-based game, meaning you will accumulate “turns” at a fixed rate as time passes. You can use your turns to research spells, attack enemies, search for land, or many other things. As you spend your turns, your land generates taxes and mana and your population grows. How you use these turns will determine the fate of your kingdom.
Magic: The Five Pillars uses a powerful magic system. As you gain experience by using your turns, you will unlock the ability to research more complex and powerful spells. The more spells you know, the higher your “Spell Level” and the more effective each cast will be.
Units: You can command over 70 different units in your army. They are usually obtained in two ways: You can recruit those that are native to the color you play, or you can use magic to summon the more powerful units of your alignment or others. Remember that it isn’t easy to cast a spell that doesn’t come naturally in your magical realm.
Startup: When you begin the game, it is a good idea to use the first few turns for building your kingdom and researching spells you can cast. A more experienced mage, knowing more spells, can use more complex units and perform better in the battlefield. But if you wish to start fighting right away, it is possible to recruit an army and begin. In any case, building your kingdom is important to ensure that you can afford to upkeep your units and buildings. If you go bankrupt, your kingdom will crumble beneath your feet! Also, be sure to build enough forts. If you lose all of them, your kingdom will vanish and you’ll have to start over again.
A good place to start is to look at the other resources under the “General” button, and be sure to check out the forums [link to Newbie Central]
